Basket-making day! Today I made a sea grass basket. And I
don’t want to hear anybody ever complain about how expensive they are. Here’s a
picture of my basket, it’s roughly 4” across, and took about 4 hours…and that
didn’t count harvesting the sea grass. Whatever you pay for them, somebody
somewhere deserves every penny! Okay, off of soapbox now.
The Friends of Sapelo sponsored the class. Sapelo is an island about 10 miles from here where the old slave traditions were carried on (the Gullah-Geechee, though my spelling may be off). Someday, I’ll have to take the ferry to the island itself, but to stay there you have to be a friend of someone on the island or a volunteer.
Anyway, I’m off to go relax in the sunshine for a bit. (And no, I didn’t get any of my projects done. But I’m not feeling lonely either, so I figure that counts as a good day, regardless of my unproductiveness.)
A basket! I made a basket! Tisket, a tasket, a green and yellow basket! And no jokes about Basket Weaving 101. These things are hard!

Nice!
