True story: We had our phone disconnected about five years ago when one of the tenants didn’t want one, and there was no sense paying for it. When we reconnected last week, we got the same story.

I just subscribed to the local paper. I’m putting my roots in the ground. Squirm, squirm. I’m also putting in a lemon tree! (“Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet...”—well, the tune runs through my head every time I look at the thing.)

My big exciting news was discovering a bit of plagiarism yesterday...I had Googled on a phrase in the book I’m currently editing, and lo and behold an entire article pops up, almost word for word the same as the book I’m editing. I emailed my editor directly, and they’re having a big meeting about it today—whether to withdraw the book, how to contact the author, whatever. I’m to keep working on the book in the meantime... But after I discovered that, I’d find myself Googling all sorts of phrases just to see if anything else popped up. Nothing has so far, but it’s a historical dictionary, and I’m only on the D’s, so there’s hope yet!

Speaking of which I really need to get back into the work groove. I’ve been goofing off too much the past few days.

Bunny and I had lunch at Skipper’s Fish Camp in downtown Darien after we hit the nursery. Good food!

It’s cold again and dreary. Going for more hot chocolate!
