Wild TurkeyWoot! 21.59 miles on my bicycle this morning, nonstop, in just under 2 hours. Am I good or what? J I’m trying to gear up (pun intended) for a bicycle ride in Durham in July that raises money for myeloma (or something like that) and is sponsored by Duke. More details as my feeble memory remembers them.

Wildlife count: 1 turkey (I think—flew like it had eaten waaaay too much and didn’t look like a turkey vulture), 2 bluebirds, numerous wood storks, several turkey vultures, 1 large something in the woods (probably a wild pig—which is a lot easier on my imagination than, perhaps, an alligator), and the usual assortment of squirrels and more normal birds. I was passed by six cars and one motorcycle the whole time, so you don’t have to worry about me, Elliott! It feels good to have done it.

Bunny and I are the designated Certified Pool Operators for Eagle Neck. She’s taking the CPO course online now, and when she’s done, I’ll take the book and the course, saving Eagle Neck at least some of the money. The homeowners’ association really has very little in reserve. They’ve cancelled the groundskeeping contract, hoping people will volunteer to mow the common areas. I would—if our lawn tractor worked. (Hint, Elliott, hint—maybe we can take it to Hinesville next Friday, hmmm? And it would save on the lawn-mowing expense. So I’ve been backwashing the filter and vacuuming and trying to get the pool in shape for these 90-degree days when everybody wants it.

Speaking of which, I’d better get out there and vacuum the pool. Why is vacuuming a pool so much more fun than vacuuming a house? I’ll ponder that one.
