Easter Notes

We is risen...

Zellweger BunnyI'm feeling thoughtfully peaceful today. Ann has been home in Durham with me since Friday, and will be with me until breakfast tomorrow.

Ann was the Easter bunny this morning, and surprised me with a spring-time milk pail full of munchies that would go well with morning coffee; biscotti and such.

We have an Easter brunch planned with friends at mid-day today, too. Kitty and Chuck along with Jeannie are to meet us at the Mediterranean Cafe in Chapel Hill. Ann hasn't met Chuck, and hasn't seen Kitty or Jeannie for more than a year. Kelly will ride down with us, but might spend the time hanging with chums at school, BUT she will ride back with us this evening, along with her friend Allegra.  And, too, Ann doesn't drive back to Georgia until tomorrow, so there will be life and mirth in the house tonight again, too!

Yesterday's fun was celebrating Kelly's birthday dinner party here at home. She was delighted with her presents (mostly clothes, and beads for her jewelry crafts, but also a portable camping hammock). Dinner was very beefy, a London Broil. Oh, guilty pleasures! The squashed potatoes were a hit, too. A red velvet cake with whipped cream cheese frosting rounded out the meal, and we all went groaning to bed early.

Like all hack writers, I have descended to filling my journal with meals and menus. I'll probably resort to writing out my dreams next...

This week I've been reading a mystery set in Elizabethan England, 'Thirteenth Night' by Alan Gordon, which supposes that some of the jesters and fools of that time were actually agents of intrigue at court. It's a fun and interesting premise, and reads quite well.

In the car, I've been listening to 'Dry' by Augustine Burroughs, and read by the author. Burroughs is better known for his other memoir, 'Running With Scissors', which was made into a film not long ago. It is VERY good!

Happy Easter, y'all!
